I recently posted on the Nourish Strength Facebook page ( about gluten and wanted to include the post here as well. I have seen nothing but great benefits to all of my clients who avoid gluten.

I have become more and more convinced the more I learn that gluten is simply not good for anyone. This really creates a sort of mental dissonance as it is pretty much everywhere! How can it be damaging for us if it's everywhere? And it's so delicious?

But here's the deal: eating gluten releases zonulin, regulator of intestinal permeability (leaky gut- more on that later) in everyone. That means eating gluten always causes a minor amount of leaky gut right after eating, in everyone. Along with all the other stressors we have in life, we certainly don't need to add one more to our digestive system and body.

If you are still skeptical, I offer this challenge- eliminate gluten for 3-4 weeks (yes I know it's hard) then eat a LOT of it for two days or so. This is known as elimination reintroduction, and it is the gold standard of sensitivity tests. See how you feel!
